  • Education and Experience
    • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program. At least one year experience in the Cardiac Cath Lab or Special Procedures.

  • Interaction with Other Departments and Other Relationships
    • This position requires interaction with most other UMC departments, medical staff, and technical personnel at TTUHSC. This position also deals directly with technical support analysts employed by contracted hardware and software vendors. NOTE: This job description/performance appraisal form does not describe all job responsibilities that may be assigned to this job. Job responsibilities may change from time-to-time.
  • Job Description
    • Under the general supervision of the Director, the technologist will perform all radiological-related duties in the Cath Lab. Assists in patient care and patient studies. Assists in the performance of housekeeping duties to maintain cleanliness of the department. Will also be responsible for maintaining permanent records of all tests performed on each patient and ensuring their proper distribution. Act promptly and efficiently in assisting physicians and other team members. Assists in the care of instruments, inventory, medications, radiographic studies and procedures. Assists in the collection of data for patients being tracked for patient improvement issues. Compliant with hospital policies and procedures as well as specific department policies and procedures. Participates in hospital programs as well as other functions as may be assigned. Works with the Director and team members to meet JCAHO and hospital standards. This position may have scribing responsibilities.
  • Required Licensures / Certifications / Registrations
    • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Current license with the State of Texas Department of Health as a Medical Radiologic Technologist. Current certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation.
  • Physical Capabilities
    • Work is moderate demand. Walking, sitting, and standing a great deal of time. Stooping and bending, lifting of patients and operation of required equipment. Near visual acuity required. May be required to move objects weighing 100 pounds. Must be able to verbally communicate with the patients, physicians, personnel and administration. Able to work under stressful situations. Hours of duty may be long and irregular to accommodate departmental on-call requirements.
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Highly technical, troubleshooting skills are required. Ability to maintain professional working relationships with all hospital and medical team members and to communicate effectively orally.
