Evans / Palmex is hiring an Industrial Engineer in our Kingsport, TN facility. Under the direction of the Plant Manager, the Industrial Engineer will be responsible for improving the efficiency, productivity, and safety of production processes. This individual will work closely with cross-functional teams to analyze current manufacturing operations, implement process improvements, and ensure optimal utilization of resources.

What You Will Do:

· Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements in production, materials handling, and packaging to maximize efficiency, reduce waste, and improve overall plant performance.

· Time and Motion Studies: Conduct time and motion studies to optimize labor costs and improve production workflows.

· Capacity Planning: Analyze production capacity and develop strategies to optimize plant resources, ensuring that production targets are met in a timely manner.

· Layout Design: Design and optimize plant layouts to improve workflow and minimize material handling time and costs.

· Cost Reduction: Collaborate with management to identify cost-saving opportunities and implement strategies that reduce operating costs without sacrificing product quality.

· Production Planning and Scheduling: Work with production teams to develop and refine scheduling processes to maximize throughput and minimize downtime.

· Safety & Compliance: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and assist in implementing safety standards across manufacturing operations.

· Data Analysis & Reporting: Utilize data-driven approaches to analyze production metrics, identify areas for improvement, and report findings to management.

· Project Management: Lead and support special projects, including new equipment installation, process redesigns, and implementation of new technologies.

· Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives (such as Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen) across manufacturing processes and ensure that improvements are sustained over time.

Requirements:

· Education: Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.

· Experience: Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in industrial engineering, preferably in a food manufacturing environment. Experience with process improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma) is a plus.

· Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality control, and production optimization. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and engineering software (AutoCAD, ERP systems, etc.).

· Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to design and implement effective solutions.

· Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

· Project Management: Experience managing or participating in process improvement projects from inception to completion.

· Certifications: Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification is a plus.

Work Environment:

· Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

· Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.

· Frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.
