MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT

As a Virtualization Systems Administrator supporting CIS, you will ensure the stability, security, and high availability of enterprise virtual server platforms across multiple networks and environments. You will manage and optimize virtualized compute resources, maintain compliant configuration baselines, and deliver resilient hosting solutions that power mission critical applications. Your work directly impacts system readiness, security posture, and the reliable delivery of core IT services.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor health, performance, and utilization of virtual compute resources, proactively identifying opportunities to enhance capacity, resilience, and efficiency
  • Implement secure configuration baselines, system hardening, and STIG aligned controls across all managed virtual servers and supporting components
  • Execute timely patching and security updates for virtual hosts, guest operating systems, hypervisors, and associated tools using automated deployment and compliance technologies
  • Review weekly compliance and security scan results, identify noncompliant systems, determine root causes, and coordinate remediation actions with system owners
  • Track and apply approved security directives, task orders, and vulnerability notices, ensuring alignment with enterprise cybersecurity requirements and reporting timelines
  • Design, build, and maintain virtual machine templates, golden images, firmware versions, and standardized configuration profiles to ensure consistent and secure deployments
  • Provide Tier 3 troubleshooting and escalation support for complex virtualization issues including storage, networking, cluster health, and resource contention
  • Collaborate with engineering, cybersecurity, networking, and operations teams to implement new virtual infrastructure solutions, support accreditation activities, and validate secure configurations
  • Maintain documentation of system configurations, patch schedules, template updates, and procedures to support audit readiness and change control

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

  • Hands on experience administering VMware, Hyper-V, or comparable virtualization platforms in an enterprise environment
  • Working knowledge of Windows and Linux server administration, performance tuning, and secure configuration practices
  • Experience performing patch management, vulnerability remediation, system hardening, and compliance reporting across virtualized systems
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and cross-team communication skills
  • US citizenship required
  • LOCATION: Onsite
