The Role

The Business Development Executive is responsible for driving new business growth by identifying and developing strategic relationships with prospective government and commercial clients. This role focuses on generating qualified opportunities, building and managing a strong sales pipeline, and supporting InterDev’s long-term growth through proactive outreach, networking, and client engagement.

As a representative of InterDev, the Business Development Executive must effectively communicate the company’s technology solutions and services with professionalism and confidence. Success in this role requires strong communication skills, a proactive and results-driven mindset, and the ability to manage multiple initiatives while collaborating across teams.

Essential Functions

Business Development & Sales Growth

  • Identify, develop, and maintain relationships with prospective government and commercial clients.
  • Generate and qualify new business opportunities through outbound prospecting, networking, and industry engagement.
  • Develop and maintain a healthy pipeline of opportunities to support company growth objectives.
  • Meet or exceed assigned sales goals, performance metrics, and growth targets.
  • Conduct market research to identify emerging trends, competitive positioning, and new business opportunities.
  • Utilize CRM and business development tools such as HubSpot and ConnectWise to manage pipeline activity, track client engagement, and support sales initiatives.

Client Engagement & Relationship Management

  • Represent InterDev at conferences, industry events, networking functions, and business meetings.
  • Deliver professional presentations and effectively communicate InterDev’s services and capabilities to prospective clients.
  • Coordinate internal resources and collaborate with leadership, technical teams, and support staff to support client needs and business opportunities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders and decision-makers.

Pipeline Management & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of sales activities, opportunities, and account information within ConnectWise CRM.
  • Track, manage, and report on pipeline activity, sales forecasts, and business development performance metrics.
  • Prepare and present updates during weekly business development and sales meetings.

Proposal & Strategic Support

  • Participate in the response process for Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Requests for Information (RFIs), and related procurement opportunities.
  • Support marketing and strategic growth initiatives through collaboration on campaigns, events, and outreach efforts.
  • Assist in identifying strategic partnerships and expansion opportunities within assigned markets or territories.

Professional Development

  • Successfully complete assigned training and professional development objectives within established timelines.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, government procurement processes, and evolving technology solutions relevant to InterDev’s service offerings.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Sales or leadership team in support of business development and organizational objectives.

  • Professional presentation and client relationship management skills.
  • Experience using CRM and sales tracking tools such as ConnectWise.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and business needs.

Educational and Professional Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in business development, sales, or account management.
  • Experience in government, public sector, or technology-related sales environments preferred.
  • Experience with CRM systems, pipeline management, and sales reporting tools.
  • Experience responding to RFPs or government procurement opportunities preferred.

Reports to:

  • Director of Sales

Travel

  • Travel is expected for conferences, client meetings, networking events, and business development activities.
  • Travel is primarily regional during the business day, with occasional overnight travel as business needs require.

Work Environment

This position operates in a professional office setting and involves regular use of standard office equipment, including computers, phones, and printers.

Physical Demands

The role is primarily desk-based, with extended periods of sitting and regular use of a computer and telephone. Occasional physical tasks may include lifting or moving light materials (up to 15 pounds).

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time, exempt position. Days and hours of work are generally Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

This position currently requires regular in-person work consistent with InterDev’s workplace policy. Onsite expectations are subject to change in accordance with company policy.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

Candidate must successfully complete background screening and drug screening upon acceptance of position.
