This role is based at our headquarters in Saint Paul, MN.
Primary Objective of Position
The Sourcing Supervisor leads and actively contributes to sourcing activities required to ensure materials are available to support production and customer commitments. This player/coach role is accountable for supplier selection and performance, commercial negotiations, purchase order execution, inventory health, and supplier strategy. The Supervisor develops and coaches team members, drives performance through key metrics, and partners cross-functionally to support end-to-end supply chain needs.
Major Areas of Accountability
- Lead sourcing execution and supplier performance to ensure material availability, cost effectiveness, quality, and delivery performance aligned with production and customer requirements
- Strategic supplier management, including supplier selection, negotiation of commercial terms, Supplier Business Reviews, and ongoing performance management
- Manage and optimize inventory health to balance customer service, production needs, and working capital objectives; lead inventory health routines
- Achieve annual cost savings targets through negotiations, cost modeling, market intelligence, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Supervise and develop the Sourcing team, including goal setting, coaching, performance management, training, and succession planning
- Facilitate regular team meetings focused on metrics review, issue resolution, communication, and continuous improvement
- Develop and optimize the global supply chain for direct materials and facility purchasing
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Customer Service, Engineering, Planning, Manufacturing, and Quality to support material changes, re-qualification, and product life-cycle management
- Establish, monitor, and control the department budget, including participation in annual compensation planning
- Support customer quotation activities by providing accurate cost of goods information
- Maintain department process documentation, training records and ensure ISO compliance
- Stay informed on relevant commodity market trends and negotiate for best total delivered cost
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 5+ years of experience in sourcing, purchasing, buying, or supply planning
- 2+ years of people leadership or supervisory experience
- Demonstrated experience leading supplier negotiations and managing supplier performance
- Proven ability to identify, implement, and sustain process improvements
- Proficiency with ERP systems
- Experience sourcing materials, services, and equipment
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to travel up to 10%
Preferred
- Experience managing spend for contract manufacturing, domestic freight and international trade
- Experience sourcing roll goods or similar direct material commodities
- Experience with continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, or similar)
- Experience participating in or executing Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning (SI&OP) processes
- Global sourcing or international supplier management experience
- Epicor ERP system proficiency
Compensation & Benefits
Starting annual salary for this role will be $80,000 - $100,000 commensurate with experience. Benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, STD/LTD, Accident and Critical Illness Insurance, Pet Insurance, Generous PTO policy, 401(k) with match, Profit Sharing.
