Job Summary
- Provides full range of direct therapy services to patients and family members/significant others participating in general counseling services assigned by and directly supervised by the Director in accordance with therapist training and skill level.
Job Specifications
- EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Working toward a Master's Degree in Counseling, Psychology or Social Work required.
- JOB KNOWLEDGE: Must have a broad base of clinical skills. Must have knowledge of interdisciplinary team concept. Must have knowledge of a full range of behavioral health concerns. Must understand family systems, dual diagnoses and general individual counseling skills. The patient population must be considered when assessing job knowledge required from the employee.
- ABILITIES, INTERESTS AND TEMPERAMENTS:
  - Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with people of diverse backgrounds and education levels.
  - Ability to accept different viewpoints, support new treatment ideas and modalities.
  - Must practice the fundamental professional attitude of “acceptance”.
  - Ability to maintain confidentiality of all information.
  - Ability to assess patient needs and to develop individual treatment plans for assigned patients.
  - Ability to facilitate individual, family, couple, and group sessions.
  - Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with community referral sources.
  - Ability to maintain ethical standards as outlined in department policy and procedure manual.
  - Emotionally stable and mature. Capable of developing and maintaining positive working relationships with supervisors, co-workers.
  - Must have the ability to work with a variety of patients of all populations (e.g. developmentally appropriate care, cultural diversity, patients with pain, victims of abuse or neglect, and a variety of mental health and substance use diagnoses).
