Pinto Valley is an open-pit copper mine located at the west end of the historic Globe-Miami mining district of central Arizona, approximately 80 miles east of Phoenix. Pinto Valley has been in operation since 1972 and has produced more than four billion pounds of copper. Acquired by Capstone from BHP in 2013, the mine is fully permitted through 2039 and a study is underway to potentially extend the mine life through 2050.

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Procurement and Logistics Superintendent leads all site supply chain functions at Pinto Valley Mine, including procurement, warehouse operations, inventory management, logistics, and strategic sourcing. This role is responsible for ensuring material availability, optimizing cost and working capital, and supporting reliable production across the operation.
This position works closely with operations, maintenance, and finance to align supply chain execution with site priorities. The role also serves as a key commercial leader, supporting contract strategy, supplier management, and stepping into broader leadership responsibilities as required.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
• Supply Chain Leadership: Lead all procurement, warehouse, inventory, and logistics functions to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable supply chain operations aligned with site priorities.
• Strategic Sourcing & Contracts: Develop sourcing strategies, negotiate supplier agreements, and manage key vendor relationships to achieve best total cost and performance.
• Procurement Execution: Ensure effective requisition-to-purchase processes, enforce commercial controls, and eliminate non-compliant or inefficient spend.
• Inventory & Warehouse Management: Optimize inventory levels, improve inventory accuracy, reduce excess and obsolete stock, and ensure efficient warehouse operations and material flow.
• Logistics Coordination: Manage inbound and outbound logistics, optimize freight strategies, and ensure timely delivery of materials to support operations.
• Cost & Performance Management: Own supply chain budget and performance metrics, drive cost reduction initiatives, and monitor KPIs such as inventory turns, purchase price variance, and logistics costs.
• Operational Alignment: Partner with operations and maintenance teams to ensure material planning supports equipment reliability and production targets.
• Commercial Leadership: Support broader commercial activities including contract strategy, supplier negotiations, and serve as backup to the Commercial Manager as needed.
• Team Leadership & Development: Lead and develop procurement, warehouse, and logistics teams; build capability in systems, processes, and commercial practices.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Required
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or related field, or equivalent experience
• Minimum 10 years of experience in procurement, supply chain, or logistics within mining, heavy industrial, or similar operations
• Proven leadership experience managing multi-functional teams
• Strong knowledge of strategic sourcing, contract management, inventory control, and logistics operations
• Financial acumen including budgeting, forecasting, and cost analysis
• Experience with ERP systems and data-driven decision-making
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
• Valid driver’s license
Preferred
• Mining industry experience
• Experience managing large capital spend or major supplier contracts
• Experience supporting commercial strategy and contract negotiations at a senior level
WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL DEMANDS
• Combination of office-based and field-based work in an active mining operation
• Regular interaction with warehouse, maintenance, and operational areas
• Walking on uneven ground and navigating industrial work areas
• Exposure to dust, noise, heat, and varying weather conditions
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) in operational areas
