Pinto Valley is an open-pit copper mine located at the west end of the historic Globe-Miami mining district of central Arizona, approximately 80 miles east of Phoenix. Pinto Valley has been in operation since 1972 and has produced more than four billion pounds of copper. Acquired by Capstone from BHP in 2013, the mine is fully permitted through 2039 and a study is underway to potentially extend the mine life through 2050.

POSITION OVERVIEWThe Expeditor supports the mining supply chain by ensuring materials, equipment, spare parts, and consumables are delivered on time, in the correct quantity, and in line with operational requirements. The role is critical to maintaining production schedules and minimizing downtime.
This position works closely with procurement, logistics providers, and site teams to track shipments, resolve delays, and maintain visibility across the supply chain to support safe and efficient mining operations.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIESOrder Management: Review purchase orders (POs) for accuracy and completeness. Confirm order dates, lead times, and delivery terms with suppliers. Update the ERP/supply-chain system with current PO status and expected delivery dates.
Shipment Tracking and Visibility: Track inbound shipments using carrier systems, tracking tools, and customs feeds. Maintain visibility of critical items with potential to impact production. Notify stakeholders immediately of any changes to expected time of arrival (ETA).
Issue Resolution: Serve as first point of contact for delays, shortages, damages, and documentation issues. Coordinate with suppliers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and internal teams to resolve issues. Escalate unresolved or high-impact issues according to company procedures.
Supplier Coordination: Maintain regular contact with key vendors to review order status and performance. Negotiate expediting options (priority handling, alternative routing, etc.) when necessary. Monitor and report supplier on-time delivery and quality performance.
Inventory and Production Support: Work with Inventory Control and Planning to align material deliveries with production schedules. Support just-in-time (JIT) delivery strategies for critical or high-value items. Provide reliable delivery forecasts to minimize stockouts and excess inventory.
Documentation and Compliance: Ensure shipping and customs documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant. Verify adherence to safety, environmental, and corporate policies, especially for hazardous or regulated materials.
Reporting and Continuous Improvement: Prepare routine (daily/weekly/monthly) expediting and logistics status reports. Analyze delays and recurring issues; recommend corrective and preventive actions. Participate in continuous-improvement projects within the supply chain and logistics function.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Liaise with Procurement, Maintenance, Engineering, Operations, Health & Safety, and Finance. Support urgent operational needs, such as critical equipment failures, with rapid sourcing and delivery.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS Required
• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience
• 3–5 years of expediting, logistics coordination, or supply chain experience
• Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar)
• Experience using shipment tracking tools and transportation management systems
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills and ability to prepare and interpret reports
• Strong communication and coordination skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English

Preferred
• Experience in mining, heavy industry, energy, or large-scale construction environments
• Experience managing time-critical or high-value shipments
• Familiarity with customs processes and international logistics
• Experience supporting just-in-time (JIT) delivery strategies
