About This Position

Description:

Basic Function: The Education Director is responsible for the daily operations of the school site, including supervision of daycare services and compliance with OCFS regulations and will work closely with supervisors, teachers, therapists, and support and facilities personnel. The Education Director will also serve as the site manager of an assigned school setting and must be able to drive to attend agency and district meetings.

Essential Functions:

  1. Provide oversight of classrooms and students in support of curricula as identified for the Inspire Kids program.
  2. Training and supervising of education staff, as necessary.
  3. Manage access to the building, including staff attendance and visitor policies.
  4. Approve plans for playground supervision and for all plans for field trips or extraordinary nonIEP mandated activities.
  5. Approve orders for supplies and for children’s food within the program’s parameters.
  6. Ensure emergency plans are drilled as required and make recommendations for improvement if needed.
  7. Assist in completing monthly health and safety inspections of a school site with the Daycare Coordinator and communicate needs to Facilities Manager.
  8. Coordinate and communicate with OCFS including incident reporting (including reports made by staff), compliance questions, site visits and follow up, and review/recertification submissions.
  9. Assist in the hiring of site-specific staff.
  10. Be accessible to families during normal hours of operation, and meet with parents regularly, at least annually.
  11. Ensure that teachers keep accurate and timely attendance records, and timely program records.
  12. Coordinate with the Senior Education Director on class enrollments and projections, staffing, and program schedules.
  13. Act as a liaison to districts as needed.
  14. Participate as a member of the Education management team in planning, review, implementation of services including new program development, purchasing, budget planning, enrollment planning.

Additional Functions:

  1. Complete required OCFS training, both annually and biennially.
  2. Complete other duties as assigned by the Senior Education Director.
  3. Adhere to safety policies and procedures and promote a safe workplace. Ensure that patients and students receive services in a safe environment. Ensure peers adhere to safety policies and procedures. Report any potentially unsafe conditions to area administrator, Facilities, or Safety Committee Chair. Be accountable for prevention of accidents and injuries within the department and program.
  4. Follow current policies and procedures regarding agency, department and program services and requirements.

General Responsibilities:

  • Maintain compliance with institutional regulations, state, and federal requirements (e.g., HIPAA, corporate compliance, etc.), Inspire’s department, program and agency policies, and Inspire’s Code of Conduct.
  • Participate in and cooperate with Inspire’s Corporate Compliance program and activities, including investigations or audits.
  • Coordinate changes in services, schedules, workdays, and hours to administration.
Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in special education or early childhood B-2.
  • New York State certification as a School Building Leader or School Administrator Supervisor; New York State teacher certification Special Education or Early Childhood
  • At least 1 year experience as Special Education teacher or Early Childhood teacher and/or 1 year experience as School Administrator
  • Demonstrated knowledge of OCFS regulations and compliance

  • Demonstrate flexibility and patience.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hand and arms; talk and hear. The employee is required to walk and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee is required to sit, climb or balance. The employee must be able to lift 50 lbs.

Environment: Must be able to work within various degrees of noise, temperature, and air quality. Interruptions of work are routine.
