Job Summary:
The position of fabricator includes, but is not limited to, production welding of pressure vessels and piping systems. Responsibilities will include the use of various hand tools and equipment to aid in the fabrication of custom products from engineering drawings to produce pressure parts that meet code specifications in a high-paced production environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Ability to perform all operations in the shop necessary to fabricate pressure vessels, pressure piping systems, skid frames, and structural components (Carbon and Stainless Steels)
Use of engineering drawings, spool sheets, piping isometrics, etc., for laying out of the job, fit up and welding preparation of all components.
Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements (GTAW, GMAW, FCAW, MCAW, SAW)
Prepare work pieces by cleaning, cutting, grinding and shaping metal using various tools and equipment.
Utilize fabrication and assembly skills to set up components for welding by using various hand tools, clamps, jigs, fixtures, calipers, rulers and tape measures to ensure proper fit-up and alignment of components before welding
Inspect parts and materials for proper assembly and cosmetic defects before welding. Tag any non-conforming parts and inform QC.
Weld components using manual, semi-automatic, and machine welding processes in various positions (flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead)
Perform welding repair and maintenance to production-related equipment, machinery, and structures.
Perform visual inspections of completed welds to ensure they meet code and project requirements to pass NDE tests.
Pressure testing of completed assemblies and subassemblies to determine weld and joint integrity.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment and ensure equipment is kept in a condition that does not compromise safety
Cross-training in assembly.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills:
Journeyperson Welder Certificate of Qualification from the Industry Training Authority of BC (SkilledTradesBC), or equivalent from a recognized provincial training authority. Minimum Level ‘B’
Current Welding Certificate through Technical Safety BC (TSBC) and welder logbook from the Industry Training Authority of BC (SkilledTradesBC)
Thorough knowledge of welding practices and techniques (GTAW, GMAW, FCAW, MCAW, SAW)
Experience with brazing of materials (copper, stainless) is an asset
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, spool sheets, piping isometrics, GAs, etc.
Able to lift and/or move up to 50lbs
Skills test to be completed
Must have Canadian citizenship or a Canadian work visa.
