ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: The duties listed below include, but are not limited to, the various types of work that may be performed by individuals in this classification. Any of the following duties may be performed. All employees are expected to maintain professional proficiency by attending conferences and meetings, reviewing reports, reading professional journals, and networking with others in area served; maintain work area in a clean and orderly manner; maintain regular job attendance and adherence to working hours; follow all City policies; follow all established safety rules and procedures.

Manage the daily activities of a wide range of engineering services related to capital improvement projects, facility planning, and environmental services. In conjunction with the City Engineer, determine project criteria, schedules, cost estimates, format, permits, and contract specifications; coordinate with other departments as needed.Supervise Engineering staff including prioritizing and developing work plans, evaluating staff performance, monitoring progress on reports and projects, establishing standards, and providing training and development for staff.Prepare and administer City contract services and service providers under supervision of the City Engineer.Assist the City Engineer with the preparation and administration of the Engineering budget; maintain and monitor appropriate budgeting and expenditure controls.Assist in the development of short and long-term goals in conjunction with master plans for major infrastructure systems.Respond to outside public and private agencies, citizen and staff needs, and inquiries relating to Engineering Services. Provide professional engineering support to City Council, Planning Commission, and other city committees and staff as required.Attend and participate at City Council and Planning Commission meetings in the absence of the City Engineer.Review and stamp engineering drawings and reports as required.MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS:

WORKING CONDITIONS:
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: May be responsible for up to 5 FTE.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Works under the direction of the City Engineer.
Generally M-F 8-5pm but schedule may vary depending on operational need.
