The Opportunity
At Avèro, we guide transformation to deliver impactful results for the public sector.
We are seeking an experienced Data Specialist to support enterprise transformation
initiatives involving ERP and HCM platforms, including Workday.
This role will focus on establishing data governance foundations, improving data
quality, and preparing enterprise data for migration into modern systems. The
specialist will work closely with functional leaders, implementation teams, and
technical partners to ensure that organizational data is accurate, well-governed, and
ready to support new enterprise platforms.
The ideal candidate combines data governance expertise, ERP data experience, and
strong stakeholder collaboration skills.
What You’ll Do
Data Governance & Strategy
● Help establish foundational data governance frameworks, including policies,
ownership structures, and stewardship models.
● Support development of data governance charters, operating models, and
governance policies.
● Identify and define key enterprise data domains, including finance, HR,
procurement, vendors, assets, and projects.
● Facilitate workshops with business stakeholders to define governance roles,
including data owners and data stewards.
Data Discovery & Cataloging
● Conduct enterprise data discovery and system inventories across ERP, HCM,
and operational systems.
● Develop and maintain a data catalog documenting critical data elements and
definitions.
● Identify systems of record for key datasets across the enterprise.
● Map data flows and system integrations.
Data Quality & Assessment
● Perform data profiling and quality assessments, identifying issues such as
duplicate records, missing or inconsistent values, formatting, and validation
issues.
● Evaluate the organization’s data governance maturity and recommend
improvements.
● Facilitate workshops to identify high-value data use cases and priority data
domains for ERP transformation.
ERP & Workday Data Readiness
● Support data preparation for ERP/HCM implementations, including Workday.
● Collaborate with functional teams to define: data standards, naming
conventions, validation rules, and reference data structures.
● Identify high-risk datasets and prioritize cleansing efforts to support migration
readiness.
Data Cleansing & Migration Preparation
● Develop data cleansing strategies and remediation plans across critical data
domains.
● Support migration readiness assessments, ensuring datasets meet quality and
format requirements for ERP/HCM systems.
● Collaborate with implementation partners on data extraction, transformation,
and integration activities.
Governance Sustainability
● Support development of a data governance roadmap and stewardship model
to sustain data quality beyond ERP implementation.
● Contribute to governance processes, including data change management,
stewardship workflows, and ongoing monitoring.
Stakeholder Collaboration
● Partner with business leaders, project teams, and ERP implementation
partners.
● Facilitate cross-functional workshops to identify data priorities, governance
needs, and reporting requirements.
● Support the adoption of data governance practices through training and
change management activities.
What You Bring
Required Skills & Experience:
● Experience supporting ERP, HCM, or other enterprise system
implementations.
● Experience with data governance, data management, or data migration
initiatives.
● Strong understanding of data quality management, data standards, and
governance practices.
● Experience working with cross-functional business stakeholders.
● Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
● Experience working with Workday data structures or Workday
implementations.
● Experience with ERP platforms such as SAP, Oracle, Workday, or similar
enterprise systems.
● Familiarity with data cataloging, metadata management, or data quality tools.
● Experience supporting public sector or large enterprise transformation
programs.
Engagement Details
Estimated Duration: ~6-9 months with potential for extension
Effort: ~20–30 hours per week
Focus: Data governance foundation and ERP/HCM data readiness.
