About This Position

We are currently seeking a Human Resources Generalist to join our team and help maintain this standard of excellence.
This position is located at our headquarters, south of downtown St. Paul. We offer an on-site work environment from Monday through Friday, with hours from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. The HR Generalist will report to the HR Director.
What You’ll Do as an HR Generalist:
The Human Resources Generalist will support the daily operations of the HR department with a strong focus on administrative coordination, employee support, compliance tasks, and HR process management. This role is ideal for an early-career HR professional seeking hands-on experience across a broad range of generalist functions. While occasional support for recruitment activities may be required, the primary responsibility of this role is to provide organizational, administrative, and operational HR support to ensure a positive employee experience and the smooth functioning of HR programs.
30% HR Administration & Employee Support
• Serve as a contact for employee inquiries related to HR policies, procedures, and programs.
• Maintain employee records (physical and digital) in accordance with legal requirements and internal policies.
• Assist with new hire onboarding, ensuring documentation accuracy, system setup, orientation coordination, and benefits enrollment support.
• Support offboarding processes, including exit documentation, system access removal, and coordination of final pay and equipment return.
30% HR Systems & Data Management, Benefits and Payroll Support
• Enter and maintain accurate data in HRIS systems.
• Run recurring and ad hoc HR reports including headcount, turnover, attendance, and compliance metrics.
• Help troubleshoot employee self-service system issues.
• Support benefits administration including enrollment, changes, and responding to employee benefit questions.
• Assist with monthly benefit invoice reconciliation and record-keeping.
• Partner with payroll to ensure employee changes are processed accurately and on time.
20% HR Documentation & Compliance Support
• Prepare, update, and maintain HR documents such as employee handbooks, templates, forms, and policy records.
• Assist with HR audits, compliance reporting, and tracking mandatory trainings.
• Ensure timely and accurate processing of HR-related transactions such as status changes, promotions, pay adjustments, and performance documentation.
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive HR data and support compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
10% Employee Engagement & HR Projects
• Assist with planning and coordinating employee engagement initiatives, recognition programs, and HR communications.
• Support performance review cycles, training coordination, and development programs.
• Participate in cross-functional HR projects to improve processes and enhance the employee experience.
10% Various Other:
• Backup to Receptionist as needed
• Provide occasional support through posting jobs, scheduling interviews, or coordinating communication with candidates.
• Assist in ensuring a positive candidate experience when needed.
The Experience, Skills and Abilities Needed:
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field; or equivalent experience
• HR Certification (PHR, SHRM-CP, etc) preferred
• 0-2 years of experience in a Human Resources role (internships, HR assistant experience, or administrative experience with HR exposure)
• Basic understanding of basic HR principles, labor laws, and HR best practices.
• Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and integrity.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and experience with HRIS systems (preferred).
• Customer-service mindset and ability to build positive working relationships.
Compensation
We are committed to equitable and transparent pay practices. The salary range for this position is $53,100 – 85,000, representing the minimum and maximum of our compensation structure. Starting pay will typically fall between these values and is determined based on factors such as relevant experience, skills, and internal equity. Offers near the higher end of the range are reserved for candidates with exceptional qualifications.
