About the Role:
This is a position that will focus on the collection of food scraps from our residential customers within Hartford & New Haven County in a pickup truck.

Responsibilities:
Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.
- Collecting food waste from residential and small commercial customers in a pickup truck. The material is collected from 4-gallon pails or 32-gallon rolling carts
- Performing pre-trip inspections of vehicle, ensuring that all equipment and supplies are stocked and in working order, and maintaining appearance of vehicle
- Using a cell phone app and GPS to track data about collections
- Loading and unloading trucks
- Delivering 25-lb bags compost to customers
- Cleaning collection receptacles at the warehouse
Minimum Job Qualifications:
- Clean driving record with commercial driving experience
- Must be VERY reliable and able to start work at 7:30am
- Ability to maneuver wheeled-containers that weigh up to 250lbs
- Ability to use a cell phone app to enter data and for GPS routing
Preferred Job Qualifications:
- Knowledge and interest in composting and/or other environmental issues
- Willingness to perform or learn about other responsibilities in the business (i.e.driving larger vehicles and vehicle maintenance)
- Willingness to obtain a CDL with company support
- Motivated to better the Hartford, and greater CT, community through your work
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
Normal work environment is outdoors, with exposure to all weather conditions, dirt, high levels of noise, smells/odors and at times exposure to dangerous and/or toxic substances requiring necessary precautions, including PPE.
The physical demands described here are representative of those which must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
- Work is performed primarily in an industrial plant environment with exposure to noise, odors, dust, and varying temperatures
- Regular presence on the plant floor, including walking, standing, climbing stairs, and navigating operating equipment
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as required
- Must wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and comply with all safety policies and procedures
- May require extended or flexible hours to support operational needs
