About the Role:

We are seeking a qualified CDL Driver to join our team at Circular Services. This individual will be responsible for safely transporting products and materials to and from our facility while adhering to all DOT regulations. The role requires excellent driving skills, a commitment to safety, and the ability to perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections, along with basic vehicle maintenance.

Responsibilities:

  • Inspect truck before and after trips, submitting reports indicating truck condition and reporting any needed maintenance or repairs.
  • Read bill of lading, invoice, and delivery tickets to determine assignments and plan the most efficient routes.
  • Secure loads using chains, binders, or tarps, and assist with loading/unloading of materials.
  • Ensure the top of the trailer is inspected to prevent load loss during transit.
  • Drive tractor-trailer combination to transport products/materials over long distances, applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations.
  • Maneuver truck into loading/unloading positions, following signals from loading crew when necessary.
  • Stop at weigh stations as required by law and company procedures to document weight and ensure compliance.
  • Maintain driver logs per regulations, ensuring accurate documentation of hours worked and miles driven.
  • Maintain a clean and organized cab, cleaning it daily and ensuring that safety equipment is in good condition.
  • Maintain professionalism and courtesy with customers and peers at all times.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or management.

Minimum Job Qualifications:

  • Valid Class A or B CDL driver’s license.
  • Current DOT physical examination.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol tests and participate in random DOT testing programs.
  • Willingness to report all driving violations to the dispatcher in a timely manner.
  • Experience in operating large vehicles, including tractor-trailer combinations, in a safe and efficient manner.
  • High school diploma or GED.

Preferred Job Qualifications:

  • Ability to safely operate and control the tractor and trailer.
  • Ability to understand and apply basic mathematics (such as weight and measurements).
  • Strong knowledge of transportation principles, safety regulations, and geography.
  • Mechanical knowledge to identify and report maintenance or repair needs.
  • Strong communication skills for interaction with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and follow detailed instructions.
  • Understanding of laws and government regulations related to transportation.
  • Physical capability to operate machinery and handle manual tasks when necessary.
  • 2-3 years of CDL driving experience.
  • Previous experience with long-distance transport and load handling.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

Normal work environment is outdoors, with exposure to all weather conditions, dirt, high levels of noise, smells/odors and at times exposure to dangerous and/or toxic substances requiring necessary precautions, including PPE.
