Duties & Responsibilities

  • Utilizes all components of the nursing process to provide patient care and serves as the coordinator for delivery of care as defined by the multidisciplinary plan of care.
  • Evaluates and documents patient response to a plan of care.
  • Takes appropriate action regarding untoward response to interventions or changes in condition.
  • Evaluates and documents patient response to medication administration and treatment plans.
  • Utilizes effective communication techniques at all times, including verbal, non-verbal, and documentation of patient assessment/outcomes.
  • Facilitates a patient-centered experience by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, friends and families.
  • Recognizes patient/family educational needs and utilizes appropriate education strategies/techniques to fulfill these needs.
  • Promotes a culture of safety by utilizing appropriate safety equipment and seeks out opportunities to teach others about the importance of the utilization of safety equipment.

Qualifications

  • Current SC RN license required

  • 0–1 year experience for entry-level staff nurse positions • Additional training and/or certification may be required to meet standards of care within specific departments.

  • Critical thinking skills and the ability to prioritize care delivery based on individual patient needs and complexity of patient workload and assessment findings.

  • Continues to learn and grow professionally through accepting assignments with differing patient load and complexity, clinical development programs, and involvement in professional organization.
