About Energetiq

Energetiq is the high technology, ultra-bright light source division of Hamamatsu Corp., a Japanese optical components and systems company. At Energetiq we are growing our market presence by introducing breakthrough products using our patented, ultra-bright Laser-Driven Light Source (LDLS™) and Electrodeless Z-Pinch™ EUV technologies. These technologies are used in a variety of markets such as high-end computer chip manufacturing, sensor testing for cell phones, and in a variety of drug discovery and medical applications. Our customers are sophisticated equipment manufacturers that operate at the forefront of what is possible.

Location: This position is onsite and is based in Wilmington, MAPosition Summary:

We are seeking an R&D Experimental Engineer / Scientist to develop next-generation EUV source technologies—from early-stage concept evaluation through prototype development—and to enhance the performance of current EUV systems.

This role involves hands-on experimental work, including the design and execution of experiments, development of proof-of-concept hardware, and use of advanced characterization techniques. The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in experimental physics or a related field (e.g., plasma systems, advanced materials processing such as CVD, or similar technologies), along with a practical mindset toward system development.

The Engineer / Scientist will collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers to evaluate new technologies, analyze results, and mature concepts into prototype-ready systems with consideration for performance, reliability, and serviceability.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop next-generation EUV source technologies from early-stage concept through prototype developmentExperimentally evaluate candidate technologies using a range of characterization methods (plasma, optical, electrical, thermal, and gas diagnostics)Design, build, and operate proof-of-concept hardware and experimental setups, including R&D EUV sources and beamline systemsPlan and execute experiments; analyze and interpret data to guide design decisions and technology developmentCollaborate with theoretical and experimental teams to compare results with models and refine experimental approachesAdvance technologies to a level suitable for prototype system buildsImprove performance of current-generation EUV sources and expand their application spaceCommunicate technical findings effectively through presentations, reports, and cross-functional discussions
