Medical Assistant I - TOI

POSITION PURPOSE
The Medical Assistant I position is responsible for a variety of patient care, technical, and clerical-related functions under the direction of a physician. The Medical Assistant I is responsible for the clinic-patient flow by assisting members of the patient care team and providing a broad range of healthcare services that assist medical and/or nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients and ensure the clinic/office runs smoothly.
MINIMUM MANDATORY qualifications
Experience:
  • No previous experience required.
Education:
  • High school diploma or High School Equivalency Test (HSE) required.
Mandatory Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Qualifications:
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required; maintained throughout employment.
  • Possess a strong professional, personable and motivational personality that builds strong relationships with patients.
  • Applications include Microsoft Word and Outlook and familiarity with electronic health record systems.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with practice leadership, physicians, advanced practitioners, colleagues and other HCMC and TPS team members.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to effectively interact with all members of the care team and with patients and family members.
  • Demonstrated commitment to providing the highest level of patient satisfaction.
  • Well organized, efficient task management and attention to detail skills.
  • Must have the ability to interact with staff (at all levels) in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under pressure, remaining calm, flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient, with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
  • High level of integrity as demonstrated by appropriate treatment of confidential or Protected Health Information; adherence to policies, procedures, rules and regulations; professional conduct in dealing with persons internal and external to the organization; sensitivity to populations served by the organization.
  • A record of satisfactory performance in all prior and current employment as evidenced by positive employment references from previous and current employers.
