Position Overview
The Business Development Manager — Industrial Accounts is responsible for building new customer relationships and expanding D.C. Taylor Co.’s presence in industrial, food processing, agriculture, manufacturing, and related facility environments. This role focuses on proactive prospecting, customer discovery, and long-term roof program development—positioning D. C. Taylor as a strategic partner for facility leaders who value planning, safety, asset management, and integrated project delivery over low-bid procurement.
Rather than competing on price alone, this role engages plant and facility managers to diagnose roof-related needs, develop facility-specific programs, and deliver comprehensive roofing solutions through roof management plans.
Key Responsibilities
Lead business development and prospecting in targeted industrial verticalsConduct customer discovery and develop customized roof management programsManage CRM, sales pipeline, and opportunity tracking with discipline and accuracyPerform roof surveys, inspections, and support technical solution developmentCoordinate with estimating and operations to develop and deliver proposalsServe as a cross-functional liaison with sales, service, safety, and operations teamsUphold safety standards and pursue ongoing professional developmentFirst-Year Success Measures

Experience in commercial/industrial roofing, building envelope, facility services, or related sales/business developmentAbility to build rapport with plant managers, maintenance leaders, and technical stakeholdersWorking knowledge of roof systems, conditions, repairs, and reroof planning—or the ability to learn quicklyProficiencywith CRM, Microsoft Office, and field documentation toolsStrong verbal, written, organizational, and follow-up skillsWillingness to travel up to 50%, including short-notice site visitsAbility to work cross-functionally across sales, estimating, service, safety, and operationsPreferred Qualifications
Prior experience calling on industrial, manufacturing, food, agriculture, or processing facilitiesExperience with roof surveys, scope development, and consultative sellingFamiliarity with project delivery methods and stakeholder mappingSafety training or ability to discuss roof access, safety, and risk reductionConstruction or technical industry background
