Job Summary
CMC is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Batch Plant Operator to support operations in a fast-paced production environment. This role is responsible for operating and maintaining concrete batching equipment to ensure the efficient production of high-quality concrete that meets customer specifications. The ideal candidate will prioritize safety, quality, and operational efficiency while supporting ongoing maintenance and quality control efforts.CMC is committed to developing talent and will train motivated individuals who bring a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and a desire to learn.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate concrete batching equipment to produce consistent, high-quality concrete in accordance with mix designs and specifications.
- Monitor and control plant operations, including material feed, mixing times, and production output.
- Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and cleaning of plant equipment, including mixers, conveyors, and related machinery.
- Manage inventory levels of raw materials such as cement, aggregates, and admixtures.
- Ensure all safety procedures and company policies are followed to maintain a safe working environment.
- Assist with equipment setup, adjustments, and calibration for varying batch requirements.
- Conduct quality control checks to ensure finished products meet project and regulatory standards.
- Maintain accurate records of production data, material usage, and equipment maintenance logs.
- Support plant improvements and repairs, including collaboration on basic fabrication, welding, or mechanical tasks as needed.
- Meet or exceed goals related to safety, quality, housekeeping, attention to detail, and production efficiency.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and adherence to company best practices.
- Maintain high ethical standards, including integrity, honesty, and accountability.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors or management not limited to other tasks outside or role or being assigned other departments positions as needed.
- Load trucks safely and efficiently to meet daily operational demands
- Coordinate and manage shipment schedules to ensure timely deliveries
- Oversee railcar scheduling in collaboration with Logistics Manager, including arrivals and departures
- Maintain accurate shipping and logistics documentation
- Communicate with drivers, team members, and supervisors to optimize workflow and reduce delays
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and company procedures
Qualifications
Education
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Associate degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred
- ACI, PCI, or NPCA certifications preferred, or ability to obtain (company-sponsored)
Experience & Skills
- 1+ year of experience in batch plant operations preferred
- Understanding of concrete batching processes and certified mix designs is a plus (training available for the right candidate)
- Ability to read and interpret shop drawings
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Mechanical aptitude and willingness to perform hands-on maintenance tasks
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment
- Loader experience preferred
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and remain on feet for extended periods throughout the shift
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds regularly
- Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and work at elevated heights as needed
- Frequent bending, kneeling, stooping, and reaching
- Ability to work in outdoor environments and tolerate varying weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, dust)
- Ability to operate heavy equipment and perform manual tasks safely
- Adequate vision and hearing to safely monitor equipment, read gauges, and communicate effectively
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, and steel-toed boots
- Work in environments requiring the use of a respirator and exposure to dust/particulates
Physical Requirements
