About This Position
Overview
The Quality Control Manager will provide assistance for overall quality control including the establishment and execution of quality control systems on a designated project or projects as directed by the Quality Manager. Executes quality control strategies and procedures to support successful completion of large, complex civil and commercial construction projects.
Responsibilities
• Plan, organize, and manage quality control measures on specific projects.
• Execute project quality control objectives, schedules, policies, procedures and performance standards within boundaries of corporate policy.
• Proactively recognize and manage potential claim/change orders/value engineering issues on projects as they relate to quality control.
• Initiate and maintain liaison with client to facilitate construction activities.
• Monitor/control construction through direction to ensure project is built on schedule, within budget, and investigate potentially serious situations and implement corrective measures.
• Manage financial aspects of quality control subcontracts to protect company’s interest and simultaneously maintain good relationship with client.
• Negotiate field issues with Quality Manager, Project Manager and client to ensure quality results.
• Prepare/update daily quality inspections and control points (diaries of quality elements).
• Uphold & maintain all Safety policies and standards on all assigned projects.
• Review quality performance with project manager and superintendent.
• Perform design reviews of quality control elements on design build projects as needed to include development of QMPs.
• Manage all quality inspectors’ performance and efficiency.
• Assume additional responsibilities as directed by Quality Control Manager and project management team.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from four-year College, technical school or university in Engineering, Business Management or Construction Management with two years of field experience, preferred.
• 5+ years of heavy civil experience in Quality Control capacity
• 5+ years of experience/knowledge of construction quality control and quality assurance practices.
• 5+ years of experience with construction materials testing requirements, including but not limited to, DOT Specifications and Quality Programs, AASHTO, ASTM and ACI
• Preferred: ACI Level I Field Testing Technician, WAQTC, USACE CQM-C
