Job Description
SUMMARY: Responsible for operating a squeeze truck and bale press to tie, weigh, and move linter bales. This role ensures equipment and work areas are kept clean and in good working condition while adhering to all safety protocols and company procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
(Other duties may be assigned)
Press and tie bales
Dress bales in linter cloth.
Keep daily record of bales (number and weights)
Move and stack bales with a forklift or bale clamp.
Assist other bale press operators when necessary.
Performs routine maintenance on mill equipment such as lubricating, cleaning, and minor mechanical repair.
Report all mechanical problems to the supervisor.
Report all safety hazards to the supervisor.
Blow dust and lint from overhead structures.
Keep work area clean by sweeping, shoveling, picking up trash, etc.
Squeeze Truck/Loader Responsibilities:
- Operating the Squeeze Truck: Safely maneuvering the equipment to load, transport, and unload products.
- Handling Delicate Loads: Using the squeeze mechanism to securely hold materials like large rolls or bales, ensuring they aren’t damaged.
- Safety Practices: Following safety protocols to prevent accidents and ensure the safe handling of materials.
- Maintenance Checks: Performing routine checks on the forklift, including fluid levels, hydraulic systems, and ensuring the equipment is in proper working condition.
- Warehouse Operations: Assisting in other warehouse tasks, such as inventory management and loading/unloading shipments.
Required Skills:
- Precision and Control: Accurately controlling the squeeze mechanism and forklift to move delicate loads.
- Attention to Detail: Ensuring loads are secured properly to avoid damage.
- Forklift Certification: Operators usually require certification for handling forklifts, including those with specialized attachments like the squeeze clamp.

Assists in other areas as directed by supervisor.
Must comply with all Plainsman Company, LLC. rules, regulations, and safety procedures.
Must comply with all applicable OSHA, EPA, and DEQ regulations.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Less than high school education; or up to one-month of related experience or training~ or equivalent of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Drivers license preferred.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. The employee will occasionally have to push a cart carrying a bale weighing approximately 650 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Use of personal protective equipment such as; safety glasses, respirators, hearing protectors, etc., is required in designated areas.
