Position Overview:
Due to continued sales growth, we are expanding our Service team. The Field Service Engineer will be responsible
for installation, maintenance, repair, calibration, and certification of Fischer X-ray fluorescence (XRF) systems and
related material analysis instrumentation.
This role requires a highly motivated technical professional capable of working independently in customer
environments across the United States. The ideal candidate will have strong electronics troubleshooting skills,
mechanical aptitude, and experience working with X-ray or laboratory instrumentation.
Travel is expected to be approximately 85%, including overnight travel by car and air.
Key Responsibilities:
• Install, configure, and commission Fischer X-ray fluorescence (XRF) systems at customer sites.
• Perform preventative maintenance, diagnostics, repair, and calibration of X-ray-based instrumentation.
• Conduct on-site instrument certifications and performance verifications.
• Troubleshoot complex electronic, mechanical, and software systems using schematics, diagrams, and
diagnostic tools.
• Ensure compliance with applicable radiation safety standards and company safety protocols.
• Provide customer training on proper operation, safety procedures, and basic maintenance of Fischer
instrumentation.
• Deliver technical support via phone, email, and on-site visits.
• Accurately complete service reports, documentation, and required regulatory paperwork.
• Communicate technical issues, recurring problems, or product improvement opportunities to the Service
Manager.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives within the Service Department.
Education and Experience:
• Associate’s degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related field; OR
• Two-year technical certification; OR
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience troubleshooting electronic systems.
• Experience with X-ray systems, laboratory instrumentation, analytical equipment, or medical diagnostic
equipment preferred.
• Experience working in regulated environments (radiation, FDA, ISO, etc.) is a plus

Requirements:• Strong knowledge of electronic diagnostics (oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal tracing, etc.).
• Ability to interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
• Mechanical aptitude and experience working with precision instrumentation.
• Basic computer networking and software troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage travel schedules efficiently.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to travel up to 85%, including overnight travel.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• U.S. citizenship required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain any required radiation safety training or certifications.
