About This Position
Position Summary
The Milling Foreman is responsible for supervising and coordinating daily milling operations to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and according to specifications. This role requires hands-on leadership in overseeing crews, managing equipment, and maintaining quality standards on roadway and site preparation projects.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise and direct milling crew members during daily operations.
- Coordinate job schedules, manpower, and equipment requirements with project managers and superintendents.
- Operate and oversee milling machines, loaders, skid steers, and other heavy equipment as needed.
- Ensure compliance with all safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Conduct daily safety meetings and enforce jobsite safety standards.
- Monitor quality of milling operations, ensuring depth, grade, and slope specifications are met.
- Perform inspections and routine maintenance checks on milling equipment.
- Communicate effectively with truck drivers, pavers, and other crews to ensure smooth workflow.
- Complete daily reports on production, crew performance, and equipment usage.
Train and mentor crew members to build skills and efficiency.
Qualifications- High school diploma or equivalent (technical training preferred).
- Minimum 3–5 years of asphalt milling or heavy highway construction experience.
- Prior supervisory or foreman experience required.
- Strong knowledge of milling operations, equipment capabilities, and road construction practices.
- Ability to read and interpret project plans, grades, and specifications.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to workplace safety and quality control.
- Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred).
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs. for extended periods.
- Willingness to work nights, weekends, or overtime as project schedules require.
