About This Position
Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Manager of CDI the Clinical Documentation Integrity Educator Provider Educator is responsible for training all employed South County Medical Group (SCMG) providers on proper documentation and coding. .Core Duties:
-
Responsible for training all new providers on documentation best practice and relevant coding knowledge
Responsible for reviewing billing and coding data to identify areas of potential documentation under-performance and aligning training to close those gaps
Acts as a liaison between The HIM Coding Staff and physicians/mid-level providers regarding clinical documentation issues
Responsible for running and analyzing E&M benchmarking data relative to peer groups on a regular basis
Serves as first point of contact for IT and clinical stakeholders if new documentation templates are built, or if there are any changes to existing templates.
Documents all training topics reviewed with groups and/or individual stakeholders and also tracks all associated follow-up items
Other Duties:
- Working collaboratively with Finance on any matters related to coding-related denials (if documentation-driven)
- Participation in the RCM/SCMG meetings as well as all SCMG Monthly Provider Meetings
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of coding guidelines and documentation guidelines for professional fee coding
- Demonstrated knowledge of HCC coding Associate’s Degree or Equivalent Work Experience At least 3 years of provider training experience
Required Certifications, Licensure:
- CPC or CCS required.
Preferred Qualifications/Additional Skills:
- Certification in Clinical Documentation
- Certification in Coding Auditing
- Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of people using interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and accomplish projects and tasks.
- Advanced analytic skills
