Department Overview

Pharmacy Receiving and Support position will receive, store, retrieve, and deliver medications and supplies as part of OHSU Pharmacy Services Supply Chain Operation. This position will also support the supply chain operation by monitoring inventory rotation and expirations, purchasing supplies, assisting with invoice tracking and processing, customer support, inventory tracking, and various other supply chain support functions.

Function/Duties of Position
  • Receive and log all incoming freight shipments; address any discrepancies of items received and resolve with vendor; count items against invoice and check that all items are in good condition and maintain records as directed by procedures. Determine space requirements for incoming shipments of supplies and equipment. Distribute or delivery products to appropriate locations in hospital or in pharmacy.

  • Purchase non-drug pharmacy supplies and equipment following OHSU purchasing rules and procedures. Maintain inventory pars on supplies. Work with vendors as appropriate on pricing/billing errors, track down missing or late shipments.

  • Coordinate rotation of stock, compliant/safe storage, expiration management, general inventory management procedures.
  • Manage damaged or unneeded supplies and equipment via surplus following OHSU procedures and guidelines. Dispose of worn out or non-repairable equipment. Assemble new furniture/ equipment/ shelving, assist with minor repairs, assist with space organization/optimization.

  • Assist with writing and updating procedures for receiving, storage, inventory rotation, and other processes as determined by need.

  • Facility issue management: disposal, housekeeping, and misc responsibilities.
  • Coordinate management of accurate record keeping, invoice filing as compliant with pharmacy and finance regulations.


Required Qualifications
  • Experience performing stores and inventory work; AND

  • Training or experience providing knowledge of inventory control systems, and transportation agencies and shipping methods.
  • May require current Driver’s license and driving record that meets OHSU’s driving requirements.
  • Must be able to work with and in multiple operating and inventory management systems
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation

Preferred Qualifications
  • High School Education
  • Pharmacy inventory related experience

Additional Details

This position must deal with situations on a daily basis with a high degree of intensity. In addition, within the health care setting there can be lack of control of the work pace, interruptions and external factors that will dictate work load and pace.
