Job Description

Position Description: With moderate supervision and working within established procedures, this position provides service during the Campamento de verano en la biblioteca. Campamento de verano en la biblioteca is a literacy based, Spanish language, half-day camp. Counselors will serve as camp staff to 2nd-5th grade campers. Position Responsibilities:
Prepares and implements activities, crafts, games, and music for camp based around the summer theme.
Set up and take down any equipment necessary for camp.
Performs storytimes daily
Connects and engages with elementary school children
Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualifications: The ideal candidate will be bilingual in Spanish and English with prior work or volunteer experience working with children.
Must be 16 or older.

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

Working Hours

While the District makes a good-faith effort to provide employees with regular and predictable schedules, it operates public facilities seven days a week, and employees are expected to be available for a variety of work hours and locations. Scheduling is based on the operational needs of the District and may include variable days, evenings, and weekends.

Work Environment

Work is typically performed in a library environment.

The noise level is usually low.
Work may be performed outdoors and exposure to seasonal weather conditions may occur.

Spokane County Library District is seeking enthusiastic Spanish Language Camp Counselors to support Campamento de verano en la biblioteca, a fun, literacy-focused, week-long day camp held at the Spokane Valley library.

Camp Dates:
First training date: Wednesday, July 29, 2026
9:00 AM - 1:00 PM, Tuesday, August 4, 2026
9:00 AM - 1:00 PM, Wednesday, August 5, 2026
9:00 AM - 1:00 PM, Thursday, August 6, 2026
Counselors must be available 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM on all camp days and attend 1–2 pre-camp planning sessions (dates and times to be determined).

What We're Looking For:
• Fluent in Spanish & English, both written and spoken
• Experience working with children in grades 2–5 preferred
• Positive, reliable, and engaging individuals who enjoy working in a team environment
• Ability to help create a safe, inclusive, and fun learning atmosphere

Requirements:
• Must be at least 16 years old

Position Details:
• Temporary role lasting only for the duration of Campamento de verano en la biblioteca,
• Not eligible for benefits
