Responsible for decontamination, assembly, and sterilization of surgical instrumentation. As well as the decontamination and high level disinfection of Endoscopes. Provides pick‑up and delivery of doctor office instruments. Along with the orientation of new staff, specialty training.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 1 year of experience preferred
- CRCST Certification Required
- Working knowledge of computers
- Organized with attention to detail
- Constant standing
- Rarely lifts 50 lbs
- Frequently lifts 28 lbs
- Frequent push/pull equipment with 25 lbs force
Major Responsibilities:
1. Performs all duties of CSS Tech I with proficiency. Completes 12 hours of continuing education annually as required.
2. Serves as a preceptor to new staff. With CSS Tech Lead assistance ensures assignments are to the experience level of the employee.
3. Coordinates/monitors quality assurance for the OR and CSS for surgical instrumentation.
4. Collaborates with the manager to define, implement and enforce policies and procedures. Assists in meeting compliance with regulatory standards.
5. Monitor par levels of supplies daily to ensure adequate par level. With CSS Tech Lead assistance orders department supplies from the Storeroom as necessary.
6. Completes monthly outdates/blade checks for code and specialty carts/trays.
7. Proficient in reading OR schedule, recognizing and communicating turnovers.
8. Prepares case carts for the Outpatient Operating Rooms anticipating and gathering instruments required utilizing preference cards.
9. Assists with in‑services for staff. Assists with annual competency and staff education.
10. Complete other daily tasks as requested and assigned.
