Wisconsin Center District Job Description – Box Office Representative
Position Overview: Box Office Representatives provide customer service to sell admissions tickets, and are responsible for cash and card handling, maintaining receipts, and ensuring accuracy of ticket sales by balance drawers against reports. Box Office Representatives are the first face to patrons entering our buildings, and represent the quality and experiences the Wisconsin Center District provides.
Responsibilities:
- Maintains a thorough understanding of the show schedules, production details, ticketing prices, deals to communicate this information to patrons accurately and consistently
- Creates an exceptional experience for patrons as a customer facing team member in the day-to-day management of the box office
- Upholds a calm and professional demeanor in a variety of different situations
- Responds to customer needs quickly and professionally over the phone or face-to-face
- Handles ticket sales at the box office window utilizing box office software, accept payments, process transactions, and adjustments as needed
- Keeps box office area clean and clutter free
- Conducts daily cash balance at the end of shift
- Ensures all policies and procedures regarding box office and ticketing are upheld
- Other responsibilities and duties as assigned by management, to ensure the effective utilization of the company’s resources and to ensure customer satisfaction
Skills & Qualifications:
- Strong project management and organizational skills in which attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks/projects on time is essential
- Exceptional communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders (internal and external); excellent situation adaptability
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to navigate organizations to build relationships and garner support; ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
- Ability to work independently and efficiently; exercise initiative, resourcefulness and good judgement
- Flexible and comfortable working under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work flexible and irregular hours that may vary due to functions and may include day, evening, weekends, and holidays as event calendar or deadlines dictate
- Ability to read, write, and speak English; perform basic mathematical functions (add, subtract, multiply and divide)
- Follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively with others in both oral and written form
Education & Experience:
- Required
- High school degree, diploma or GED
- Preferred
- 1-3 years of experience in a venue, hospitality, or high-volume customer service industry
- Experience in working with concerts, sporting events and teams is a plus
- Experience with Ticketmaster programs (Host, WPS, etc.)
- Bilingual a plus
