Maintenance in Marengo, Illinois at Marengo Park District

Summary of Responsibilities:

1. Perform grounds keeping, cleaning and building maintenance duties as assigned.

2. Mow grounds using a riding lawnmower or tractor.

3. Landscape by planting flowers, grass, shrubs, and bushes.

4. Plow and shovel snow from walkways and salt them down.

5. Trim shrubs, rake, mulch, pull weeds, cut down tree limbs, etc. as needed.

6. Perform minor repairs and maintenance on grounds keeping equipment.

7. Assist with providing the proper support services at the direction of the Buildings and Grounds Supervisor.

8. Operate power tools (drill, saws, etc.).

9. Perform routine maintenance duties such as repairing and replacing items.

10. Repair plumbing fixtures (leaky faucets, toilets, sinks, drain, valves, water lines).

11. Repair electrical apparatus (lights, switches, outlets, motors, icemakers, appliances).

12. Replace overhead light bulbs; Repair outdoor lighting and plumbing.

13. Perform rough and finish carpentry.

14. Perform painting, wall repairs, etc.

15. Perform custodial duties including regular cleaning routines as assigned.

16. Other duties as assigned.

Skills and knowledge required:

1. Able to relate with integrity and respect within and beyond the organization,

2. Knowledge and experience in building operation and facilities management,

3. Knowledge in electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical helpful, but not required,

4. Information from the computer, work with minimal supervision, and skilled in oral and written communication.
