Position Summary:
We are excited to announce an opportunity for individuals passionate about enhancing the lives of adults ages 60 and up through engaging programming and activities! This position will coordinate and deliver a portfolio of programs specifically designed for older adults, including in-person and virtual classes, outdoor recreation programs, vehicle-based day trips, and “Meet Us There” group tours.

What you'll get to do:
  • Plan and execute a diverse range of recreation programs, such as fitness, arts, hikes, walks, group classes, vehicle-based day trips, and “Meet Us There” group tours, ensuring enjoyable and enriching experiences for participants.
  • Contract with vendors and instructors to secure quality services and resources for each program.
  • Recruit and coordinate volunteers and casual staff, fostering a supportive and collaborative environment to enhance program delivery.
  • Conduct thorough research to manage the logistics of organizing activities, ensuring smooth operations and positive experiences for all participants.
  • Create detailed itineraries and compelling program descriptions to facilitate memorable experiences.
  • Assess and evaluate programs regularly to gather feedback and make improvements, ensuring that all offerings meet the needs and interests of older adults.
  • Evaluate programs by leading and taking part in them, directly engaging with participants.
  • Collaborate with team members to develop marketing materials, provide outstanding customer service, and create safety plans to ensure a secure environment for all.
  • Assist in training new volunteers and casual staff, sharing your knowledge and best practices to enhance team effectiveness.

The following minimum qualifications are required for this position:
  1. Knowledge of community recreation needs specific to older adults, with the ability to incorporate the diverse needs of older adults from various ethnic backgrounds, ages, physical abilities, and interests into effective program planning.
  2. Experience in planning, developing, coordinating, and evaluating recreation programs relevant to older adults.
  3. Knowledge of effective methods for recruiting, assigning, directing work, motivating, and evaluating the performance of permanent, part-time, and volunteer staff.
  4. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse internal and external stakeholders, including staff, city employees, program participants, and the general public.

Step 2: Minimum Qualification Evaluation: Week of January 6, 2025
