About This Position

Quantum Design, Inc. is a well-established advanced physics technology manufacturing and distribution company in San Diego, California. Quantum Design is the leading commercial source for automated materials characterization systems incorporating superconducting technology in low-temperature quantum physics.

We are seeking a talented and experienced Software Engineer to contribute to the development and enhancement of our FusionScope software platform. As a Software Engineer on the FusionScope development team, you will leverage your extensive knowledge of graphical user interface (GUI) design to maintain, enhance, and implement advanced features for the FusionScope software. This includes cutting-edge functionalities such as Electron Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS), Finite Impulse Response Excitation (FIRE) mode mapping, and advanced learning for fine position control. Your contributions will focus on driving innovation and refinement of the FusionScope and AFSEM software platforms, optimizing performance, introducing new measurement modes, and automating post-measurement data processing. By improving usability and performance, your work will play a critical role in delivering an exceptional customer experience and advancing the capabilities of our technology.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and enhance workflows in the FusionScope software platform.
  • Implement advanced graphing techniques to enable superior data analysis.
  • Streamline the user experience to reduce setup time for measurements.
  • Refine the testing process to accelerate software release cycles.
  • Design, build, and maintain high-quality, reliable code.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to find creative solutions to technical challenges.

Technical Expertise:

  • Proficiency in C/C++ programming.
  • Strong experience with the Qt framework (especially QML/QtQuick).
  • Familiarity with version control tools such as Subversion and Git.
  • Experience with Linux and Windows platforms.
  • Programming experience in Python.

Education:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Physics.

Experience:

  • 3–4 years of professional experience in software development.
  • Demonstrated expertise in GUI design and creation.
