About This Position

Position Overview: As a Certified Pre-K Teacher or substitute Teacher, you will play a crucial role in nurturing the academic, social, and emotional development of young learners. You will create a stimulating and safe learning environment where children can explore, learn, and grow. Your primary responsibility will be to design and implement age-appropriate curriculum, assess student progress, and collaborate with parents and colleagues to support each child's individual needs.
Key Responsibilities:

Curriculum Development and Implementation:


  • Develop and implement lesson plans that align with Pre-K learning objectives and standards.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching methods and resources to engage young learners and cater to diverse learning styles.
  • Foster creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills through hands-on activities, group projects, and interactive experiences.
Classroom Management:


  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued and respected.
  • Establish and enforce clear expectations for behavior and conduct, promoting cooperation and mutual respect among students.
  • Manage transitions smoothly and effectively to maximize instructional time and minimize disruptions.
Assessment and Progress Monitoring:


  • Use formative and summative assessments to evaluate student learning and development.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and achievements, identifying areas for growth and providing targeted support as needed.
  • Communicate assessment results to parents and colleagues regularly, fostering open and transparent communication about each child's academic and social-emotional development.
Collaboration and Professional Development:


  • Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and support staff to create a cohesive and supportive learning community.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay informed about best practices in early childhood education and continuously improve your teaching skills.
  • Engage in reflective practice, seeking feedback and self-assessment to refine instructional strategies and enhance student outcomes.
Qualifications:



  • Substitute certified in Missouri.
  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field (required).
  • State certification in Early Childhood Education or Pre-K teaching (required).
  • Previous experience working with young children in a classroom setting (preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of child development principles and early childhood pedagogy.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and adapt to the needs of diverse learners.
