Adjunct Religious Studies Instructors at Avila University – Kansas City, Missouri

Avila University is seeking qualified adjunct instructors for introductory-level Religious Studies courses. Religious Studies Courses are not confessionally or faith-focused, but are taught from sociological, cultural, and historical perspectives.

Responsibilities:
• Lectures for introductory courses (including World Religions; other courses in Religion and Politics, Religion and Gender, and Religion and Race are also possible).
• Conduct all class sessions in person according to the assigned schedule
• Provide instruction, activities, assignments, assessments, and feedback to adequately cover all objectives for the specific course(s) taught,
• Deliver content using effectual methods which are appropriate to students with differing abilities, levels of preparation, and cultural experiences,
• Work effectively with the program Chair and/or the Dean,
• Perform other duties as needed related to assigned courses.

Qualifications:
• Master’s degree or higher in specific discipline relevant to teaching responsibilities
• Demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching,
• Teaching experience with a diverse population (preferred),
• Experience with a Learning Management System such as Canvas (preferred).

Compensation: Stipend based on the credit hours assigned and previous teaching experience.
