We are currently seeking an experienced:
PHYSICAL CABLING SUPERVISOR
Full Time
JOB SUMMARY:
- Supervise cabling technician teams.
- Provide coaching, development, and guidance to direct reports and/or team members, encouraging them to promote a culture and to develop with emerging technologies.
- Assist in recruitment of Physical Cabling Technicians.
- Supervises all related quality and safety issues on customer work.
- Hold customer meetings to review project commencement, status, and completion of project work. Also provides specific work dates for scheduled items.
- Verify and ensure SLAs are being met.
- Develop and provide scoping on new projects including installs, updates, and maintenance work
- Verify all tools assigned to low voltage teams are accounted for and in operational order
- Verify all OSHA safety practices are followed by teams.
- Supervise the installation of new data and phone cable and associated hardware including testing, labeling, and cable certifications
- Inspect work performed by contractors at new facilities
- Supervise all camera installations and verify correctness and completeness.
- Verify terminating and testing new cable, including block and patch panel punch downs for correctness
- Testing and troubleshooting faulty cable
- Verify cross-connecting circuits using patch panels for correctness.
- Maintaining core data center infrastructure; following BICSI and organization standards
- Coordinates network activities to include overseeing network cabling design, new product testing, infrastructure upgrades, and technical support.
- Verify that all Liberty standards are followed as teams diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve network infrastructure problems, including, if necessary, wire maps and POE testing.
- Configuring programs to meet end-user needs; troubleshooting issues; and reviewing usage reports.
- Help keep company standards up to date with the current BICSI code.
- Serves as a consultant to department heads and staff by assessing needs and recommending appropriate solutions.
- Must be knowledgeable in various wiring configurations and terminations, as well as possess technical skills and knowledge of telecommunications industry and installations, including voice, data, and video structured cabling systems
- Performs work during emergency/disaster situations.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma or its equivalent combination of education and experience
- A minimum of two years of supervision of low voltage installers.
- A minimum 5 years low voltage installation experience
- Current BICSI RCDD Certification preferred
- NC Low Voltage license or readiness to obtain a license
- Low voltage and data cabling supervision experience is preferred.
- OSHA 30 Training preferred.
- Knowledge of the installation standards and testing criteria of all major cable manufacturers, such as Legrand, Corning, Panduit, SYSTIMAX, CommScope, and others.
- NC Low Voltage or High Voltage license preferred, Journeyman would be considered
- A strong working knowledge of TIA, EIA, BICSI, or NEC Standards, including installation, troubleshooting and service, and working knowledge of building codes, electrical codes, communication standards, and installation may be required.
- Experience with installing j-hooks, ladder racks and cable trays, and working in MDF/IDF environments may be required. Experience in communications cabling.
- Knowledge of labeling, pulling, and dressing category 3, category 5e, category 6 and fiber optic, and previous wiring or data experience (Audio Installer, Network Installer, Cable Installer, Security Cameras etc.) preferred
- Experience with installing j-hooks, 66/110 blocks, ladder racks and cable trays, and working in MDF/IDF environments may be required. Experience in communications cabling is strongly preferred
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Computer experience is required. Including software like work order tickets, Microsoft Office, email, and chat.
- ITIL knowledge preferred.
- Must exhibit strong customer service techniques
- Understand budgetary principles; company operations; and basic accounting practices.
