Welder (Req #: 41) at Questec – Columbia, Missouri

QuesTec Mechanical is looking for welders to join our team. QuesTec welders will perform welding on a variety of piping and metal structures including stainless steel and carbon steel. This position will be working at job sites as well as in our prefabrication shop. Pay for this position will be based on experience.

1. Able to perform quality and consistent MIG, TIG, and Stick welding procedures on pipe
2. Use additional joining methods such as soldering or brazing
3. Read blueprints and drawings to gain context about how the completed pipe welds will be incorporated within building systems
4. Able to apply rigging procedures as needed to place finished pipe
5. Perform quality control inspection of welds
6. Fabricate metal fixtures by using different types of metals
7. Use various types of grinding equipment (i.e. grinders, end-grinders, etc.)
8. Use various cutting tools (i.e. oxyacetylene torch, plasma cutting, etc.)
9. Ensure proper safety procedures are always performed
10. Always maintain a clean work area

1. Must pass a 6G weld test prior to hire
2. Required Tools: stinger, ground clamp, TIG rig, 4.5” grinder, tape measure, levels, framing square, two-hole pins, center finder, channel locks, pipe wrenches
3. Experience in welding and fabricating pipe
4. Ability to follow instructions from management and work in a team environment
5. Ability to work independently when needed
6. Ability to work as a part of a team
7. Ability to lift 50 lbs., stand for long periods of time, bend at waist or back repeatedly while working on products
8. Ability to lift 50lbs independently
9. Ability to push, pull, carry, and maneuver heavy items (with additional manpower or appropriate tools)
10. Ability to withstand long periods of standing, squatting, stooping, and crawling (stationary positions up to 50% of time)
11. Ability to feel, grasp, operate and position items with fingers and hands
12. Ability to effectively perform work at ground level, above ground level, below ground level and in confined spaces such as pipe shafts, crawl spaces, tunnels, and basins
