About This Position

OBJECTIVE AND POSITION SUMMARY

The Parent Education Facilitator is responsible for direct delivery of facilitation of funder approved parenting curriculum to the children and families of Arizona. The program provides community-based classes and supports parents, caregivers, and teens. The Parent Education Facilitator will perform outreach to recruit Parenting Champions, families, and community members to participate in parent education in Flagstaff, Page, Winslow, Williams, Fredonia, Kaibab Band of Paiute and Hopi.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES

Education /Background:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and or 5 years’ experience working in Social Services, Early Childhood, or related field (i.e., Social Work, Early Childhood Education, Family and Human Development, Psychology, Sociology, etc.).
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must have access to safe, reliable transportation with valid automobile insurance.
  • Must have a valid Arizona Level One Fingerprint Clearance card.
  • Complete CPR and First Aid certifications within 90 days of hire and maintain the certifications throughout employment.
  • Minimum of 20 hours per Fiscal Year of continuing education and competency building, including but not limited, to Relias Learning, Conference, Workshops, and/or Outside Training.
  • Excellent data collection and analysis skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Must possess extensive knowledge and/or experience with infant & child development, parent-child attachment, possible behavioral health dynamics of caregivers, as well as the dynamics of child abuse & neglect.
  • Extensive knowledge and/or experience with strength-based and family-centered provision of primary prevention services.
  • Ability to identify individual/family strengths and planning/advocating around individual/family goals.
  • Extensive knowledge and/or experience with community resources as well as how to navigate/access these resources for families (some examples of services include Social Service Agencies, Provider Systems such as behavioral health, and division of developmental disabilities).

Language Skills:

  • Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills (e.g., nonjudgmental, objective, reflective, empathic, patient, tactful).
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) highly desirable (will consider other languages)

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing. Able to present operational information to personnel at all levels. Able to identify and recruit potential funding sources.
