Automatic Door Technician - Des Moines in Des Moines, Iowa at Walsh Door & Hardware Company

Job Description:

• Install and troubleshoot automatic doors and electrified door hardware.
• Read and interpret wiring diagrams and electrical schematics.
• Accurately maintain records of work performed and parts used at each job site, following established procedures.
• Ensure accurate project and service records by consistently and promptly documenting all relevant information and technical data
• Develop and maintain good relationships with local contractors and customers.
• The successful candidate will have the desire to take on more responsibility with experience.

Job Requirements:

• Must be dependable, professional, and have strong technical / mechanical skills. The ideal candidate will have experience with automatic doors and low voltage cabling.
• AAADM certification preferred.
• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues
• Must have clean background and driver’s license.
• The position requires medium lifting of materials up to 50 pounds and frequent to constant standing, bending, kneeling, stooping, walking, climbing, carrying, handling, lifting, punching, pulling, reaching, seeing, and the ability to distinguish between colors accurately.
• Pre-employment fit test, drug screen, and background check are required.
• Follow safe work practices and instructions in full compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Typical schedule is Monday – Friday from 8:00 am – 4:30 pm. Hours WILL VARY depending on workload and may require 50+ hours per week during peak times.
• Some travel and overnight stays are required.

Additional Preferred Skills & Knowledge:

• Experience servicing automated door systems
• Background in construction, specifically installing door frames, windows, or working as a glazier with glass windows and doors
• Experience in electrical work, automotive repair, or carpentry trades
