About This Position

  • Job Summary
    • • Pharmacy Technician Trainees must register with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy and complete their training within 1 year of hire. The pharmacy technician trainee will provided with training and evaluation in the following areas of pharmacy practice: Mathematical calculations, federal and state laws that affect pharmacy practice, medical and pharmaceutical terminology abbreviations and symbols, preparation and packaging of dangerous drugs, security of dangerous drugs, science relevant to pharmacology, medication safety, HIPPA, ethical and professional practice standards, recordkeeping, inventory control, and patient and caregiver communications including diverse populations. The pharmacy technician trainee must have computer and keyboarding experience and proficiency. The pharmacy technician trainee will also perform general clerical duties, such as answering phones, operating cash register, etc. The pharmacy technician trainee will only function under the professional guidance of a licensed pharmacist.
  • Regulatory Requirements
    • Actively seeking registration as a Pharmacy Technician Trainee with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy.
    • Actively seeking certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).
    • Plans to sit for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (PTCE) within 1 year.
    • Proficiency and confidence in performing simple mathematical calculations.
    • Experience interacting with medical insurers preferred.
    • Experience with medical and pharmaceutical terminology preferred.
    • Experience in customer service preferred.
    • Education in all age groups ranging from newborn to the geriatric population obtained either in school education, experience or subsequent training.
  • Language Skills
    • Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
    • Additional languages preferred.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Skills
    • Basic computer knowledge. Prior knowledge of Meditech is preferred.
    • IV Laminar Flow Hood or willingness to learn.
    • Must be motivated.
