SUMMARY
The PROCUREMENT AND SUPPLY CHAIN SPECIALIST will be responsible for sourcing goods and services, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of products to meet business needs.
ESSENTIAL POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Directs materials planning for made & purchased items based on production demand. Includes use of MRP, as well as determination of appropriate target stock levels, where necessary, based on historical consumption or usage forecasts.
- Set up trucks and maintain current relationships.
- Maintaining effective relationships with key suppliers that reflect both a customer and vendor perspective.
- Monitor daily production/activity workflow internally and externally across multiple departments while proactively solving issues before they impact the company.
- Interface with Operations, Customer Service, Sales, and Engineering.
- Negotiate price, quantity, and delivery schedules with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery and eliminate potential breaks in the supply chain.
- Obtain and provide a detailed assessment of quotes to drive supplier selection.
- Provide solutions to improve company spending and outsourcing.
- Lead regularly scheduled meetings with internal upper management, team members, vendors, and third-party affiliates to solve any issues that may arise as well as to discover new opportunities.
- Develop and implement business process procedures. Able to write work instructions.
- Forecast material needs, pricing, market trends, current and potential customer demands. Create and implement real-time dashboards.
- Purchase all raw materials and schedule the workflow for in-house operations as well as four tollers (3rd party manufacturing sites) manufacturing sequences and lead times.
- Work with customers on supplied parts
- Frequently go to the production floor to perform visual audits of raw and finished materials and develop buying/planning strategies to purchase and arrange timely deliveries.
- Resolve complex delivery, quality or other related problems with purchases and invoices.
- Manage complex and project plans and purchasing systems, reviewing requisitions and supply plans for domestic and international purchases.
- Negotiate prices, terms, and quality requirements; requests for quotes and assisting in the development of new supply sources; evaluating market conditions.
- Analyze and forecast future production changes.
- Ensure that we meet all ISO9001 standards and assist in audits.
- Manage twelve hundred parts and determine safety stock levels based on forecasts and customer needs.
- Provide quotes and material information to our engineering and sales departments.
- Evaluate open work orders expeditiously to maintain production schedules through the ERP/MRP.
- Resolving material quality issues and implementing schedule recovery.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in administration, Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field preferred but not required.
- Proven experience in sourcing processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
- A thorough understanding of sourcing methodologies.
- Sound time management and organizational skills.
- Logistics experience and freight negotiation experience is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to resolving issues
- Demonstrate high level of written, verbal, and interpersonal skills to communicate information, ideas, procedures, test results and processes both internally and externally.
- Ability to work well with a team as well as independently.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the proven ability to work well with all levels of management and staff.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to access and navigate the production facility.
- Able to lift 20 lbs. and be on the production floor as needed.
