WELL/BEINGS is seeking a relationship-driven, mission-aligned fundraising professional to join our growing development team as Development & Gift Officer. This role is central to building and sustaining the individual donor relationships that power our work — from mid-level giving to major gift cultivation and stewardship.
- Reports to: Executive Director
- Development Employment Status: Full Time; Exempt (40 hours/week)
- Location: Hybrid - expected to be in-office 1-2 days per week
- Compensation: $80,000-$95,000, commensurate with experience
Key Responsibilities
- Individual Giving & Donor Relations
- Manage and grow a portfolio of mid-level and major donors, with responsibility for cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship
- Serve as a primary point of contact for donors and prospects, providing a high-touch, personalized experience
- Conduct prospect research on giving history, capacity, and areas of interest to inform outreach strategy
- Develop and execute targeted donor communications, including personal outreach, impact updates, and tailored asks in collaboration with the ED
- Track and follow up on outstanding pledges, board dues, and open invoices
- Annual Campaigns & Events
- Lead the execution of annual giving campaigns in partnership with the ED and marketing
- Support the annual gala and other fundraising events, including auction partnerships, donor invitations, and event-day logistics
- Manage end-of-year fundraising strategy and implementation
- Attend donor-facing events and community activities to strengthen relationships and identify new prospects
- Gift Processing & Data Management
- Oversee gift processing: prepare donation reports, send acknowledgement letters, and reconcile donations with the Operations Manager
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date donor records in Funraise (CRM), ensuring all communications, gifts, and engagements are logged
- Track development metrics and contribute data to fundraising impact reporting
- Development Administration
- Maintain development calendar, tracking proposal deadlines, reporting due dates, board meetings, and campaigns
- Support grant administration in coordination with the Programs & Development Coordinator
- Manage file organization and documentation in Google Drive
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 3–5 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, with a focus on individual giving and donor stewardship
- Demonstrated success managing a donor portfolio and closing gifts
- Experience with Funraise, Salesforce, or a comparable CRM
- Comfortable working with tools including Google Workspace, Zoom, Slack, Canva, and Microsoft Office
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; able to write compelling donor correspondence and speak confidently with major donors
- High degree of discretion, professionalism, and relationship instinct
- Based in the New York Metropolitan Area; comfortable in a hybrid environment with occasional evenings and travel (approx. 6–8 weeks/year)
