HEALTHEDUCATOR / PUBLIC HEALTH EMERGENCY NOTIFICATION SYSTEMS COORDINATOR(PHENS/HERC)
DEPARTMENT: Public Health & Safety
DIVISION: Public Health
SALARY: $67,544 – $102,335
SCHEDULE: The regular schedule for thisposition is Monday through Friday, full-time. However, as part of the Divisionof Public Health within the Department of Public Health and Safety, whichfunctions as an emergency response agency, this position may require occasionalwork outside of standard business hours in support of public healthemergencies, grant deliverables, planned events, preparedness exercises, orother duties as assigned.

POSITIONOVERVIEW:
The HealthEducator / Public Health Emergency Notification Systems Coordinator(PHENS/HERC) plays an integral role in supporting Mercer County's communityhealth education initiatives and public health emergency preparednessactivities. This position will develop and deliver evidence-based healtheducation programming, assess community health education needs, and coordinateemergency preparedness deliverables, reporting, notifications, communications,and grant responsibilities related to the NJDOH LINCS Preparedness Program.
Thisopportunity is ideal for a highly organized public health professional withstrong communication and project management skills, who is committed tocommunity engagement, preparedness capability building, and advancing prioritypublic health initiatives across Mercer County.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Graduationfrom an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in HealthEducation, Public Health, Community Health Education, Nursing, or a relatedhealth education field;
AND
- Two (2)years of professional experience assessing community health education needs andin the planning, implementation, and evaluation of diversified health educationprograms in a local health department or state or local health agency.
CERTIFICATION:
- Applicants must possess certification as a Certified Health EducationSpecialist (CHES) issued by the National Commission for Health EducationCredentialing, Inc.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assesscommunity health education needs and develop targeted health education programsand materials.
- Plan,implement, and evaluate public health education initiatives.
- CoordinatePHENS messaging, alerts, and notifications in compliance with NJDOH grantrequirements.
- Prepare,monitor, and submit grant deliverables, quarterly reports, and programdocumentation.
- Assistwith program budgeting, purchasing requests, and grant tracking.
- Maintainand update emergency preparedness plans, datasets, and resource inventories.
- Supportemergency preparedness exercises, drills, after-action reviews, and improvementplanning.
- Serve as aresource to staff, partners, and the public on health education andpreparedness topics.
- Maintainmanual and electronic records as required.
- Performother duties as assigned.
