Claims Representative - Liability

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Claims Representative – Liability based in the United States.

This role offers the opportunity to manage and resolve general liability claims within a dynamic and structured claims environment. You will be responsible for evaluating liability exposure, determining appropriate claim outcomes, and ensuring fair and timely resolution in line with company standards and regulatory requirements. The position involves direct communication with claimants, clients, and internal stakeholders to coordinate claim strategies and support effective decision-making. You will also contribute to settlement negotiations, subrogation efforts, and the accurate documentation of claim files. This is a detail-oriented and client-facing role where analytical thinking, empathy, and sound judgment are essential. The environment is collaborative and performance-driven, with strong emphasis on professional development and continuous improvement. The role is fully remote and part of a large-scale, multi-jurisdiction claims organization operating across the U.S.

Accountabilities:

In this role, you will manage the end-to-end handling of general and product liability claims, ensuring accurate evaluation, documentation, and resolution. Your responsibilities include:

  • Processing low-level general and product liability claims by gathering and analyzing relevant information to determine liability exposure
  • Establishing reserve values, issuing claim payments, and managing settlements within assigned authority limits
  • Developing and executing claims action plans to support timely resolution and appropriate return-to-work or recovery outcomes where applicable
  • Administering subrogation activities and negotiating settlements with relevant stakeholders
  • Communicating regularly with claimants, clients, and internal teams regarding claim status and decisions
  • Ensuring complete, accurate, and compliant documentation of all claim files and coding requirements
  • Supporting claims involving medical components, including review of treatment recommendations and related filings when applicable
  • Maintaining strong professional relationships with clients while delivering consistent service quality
  • Supporting organizational quality initiatives and performing additional duties as assigned
Requirements:

This role requires experience in liability claims handling, strong analytical ability, and excellent communication skills to manage complex claim processes effectively. Ideal candidates should have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Insurance, Legal Studies, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 2 years of experience in liability claims management or a combination of education and relevant experience
  • Strong understanding of general liability and/or product liability claims processes
  • Experience evaluating liability exposure, negotiating settlements, and managing claim resolutions
  • Knowledge of claims documentation standards, coding accuracy, and regulatory compliance requirements
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a client-focused approach
  • Analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, and sound judgment in decision-making
  • Multi-state jurisdiction experience preferred
  • Active insurance licensing in multiple states (New York and Hawaii preferred)
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment while maintaining high productivity standards
