The Ocular Account Specialist will be responsible for developing territory strategies, managing key healthcare accounts, and driving adoption of specialized eye health solutions. This role requires a strong understanding of customer needs, market dynamics, and clinical selling approaches to build lasting partnerships and achieve commercial objectives.
- Develop and execute strategic territory sales plans to achieve revenue goals and business objectives.
- Manage ophthalmology and optometry accounts through a consultative, relationship-driven selling approach.
- Build strong relationships with healthcare professionals and understand account-specific needs, prescribing behaviors, and treatment opportunities.
- Communicate product value, clinical benefits, and treatment solutions effectively to support informed customer decisions.
- Apply clinical selling techniques to influence customer perspectives and improve patient care approaches.
- Manage promotional resources and budgets effectively while aligning activities with business priorities.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer insights to identify growth opportunities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure customer needs are addressed and commercial strategies are successfully executed.
- Utilize customer relationship management tools and available data to optimize account performance and engagement.
- Follow compliance guidelines when managing product samples, promotional activities, and customer interactions.
The ideal candidate is an experienced specialty sales professional with strong healthcare knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage complex customer relationships. Candidates should demonstrate a successful track record in pharmaceutical sales and possess the business acumen needed to drive growth within a competitive market.
- Bachelor’s degree in science, business, or a related discipline preferred; equivalent professional certifications and relevant ophthalmic experience may also be considered.
- 5+ years of successful specialty pharmaceutical sales experience with demonstrated achievement against sales goals.
- Experience in eye health, ophthalmology, optometry, or key account management is strongly preferred.
- Strong ability to identify customer needs, provide tailored solutions, and influence healthcare professionals.
- Excellent interpersonal, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Strong analytical capabilities with the ability to interpret market trends, sales data, and account performance.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Experience using CRM platforms such as Salesforce and Microsoft Office 365; familiarity with analytics tools is an asset.
- Ability to manage a remote field-based territory requiring regular travel, including occasional overnight travel.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to safely travel throughout an assigned geographic territory.
- Ability to manage field responsibilities, including extended driving periods, customer visits, and occasional physical requirements related to the role.
