Job Description

Position Description: Full-time | Business Development & Marketing | 7+ Years Experience | Power Generation Vertical

Drive new business and grow existing accounts across the power generation sector — thermal, renewables, energy storage, and nuclear-adjacent projects — working as part of an integrated account team with our Account Leads and Project Leads. Target clients span investor-owned utilities, public power entities, independent power producers (IPPs), and industrial / cogeneration owners, across owner's engineer, EPC support, and design-only engagements.

What You'll Do

Business Growth. Identify and develop new project and business opportunities aligned with company growth strategies in the power generation vertical. Build pipeline by tracking utility capital plans, Integrated Resource Plans (IRPs), IPP RFPs, ISO/RTO interconnection queues, EPC partnership opportunities, and regulatory triggers (EPA air rules, IRA tax credits, state RPS targets) that drive capital deployment. Maintain a network of relationships across owners, OEMs, and EPC partners to identify new sales leads in alignment with company markets and customer targeting strategy.

Client Relationships. Grow existing and develop new customer relationships across investor-owned utilities, public power (municipals, cooperatives, G&Ts), IPPs, and industrial / cogeneration owners as part of an integrated account team. Build trust through long capital sales cycles — navigating multi-stakeholder buying centers spanning plant managers, engineering leadership, procurement, and C-suite. Deliver superior client service and technical solutions while ensuring customer satisfaction through ongoing communication tied to capital planning windows and outage seasons.

Sales Excellence. Take a sales support role in moving opportunities to closure with account teams. Conduct customer interviews, presentations, and lead client selling strategy across owner's engineer, EPC support, and design-only engagement models. Demonstrate fluency with utility and IPP procurement processes (RFQs, RFPs, prequalification packages, MSA / task-order frameworks) and the ability to position the firm at the right FEL / FEED stage of a project. Maintain detailed reports of sales activities and provide periodic sales forecasts.

Market Presence. Promote the company's offerings at power generation industry events — including POWER-GEN International, EPRI conferences, EUCI events, EEI / APPA / NRECA member meetings, and regional ISO/RTO stakeholder forums. Give formal presentations, coordinate “Lunch & Learns” with client engineering and operations teams, and use company tools and work processes to track and manage the sales opportunity pipeline.

What You Bring

Must-Have Qualifications
  • Experience: Minimum 7 years in technical / engineering / construction services, with a track record of pipeline ownership in long-cycle capital sales (multi-year close cycles, six- to eight-figure pursuits)
  • Industry: Background in the power generation sector — thermal, renewables, energy storage, or nuclear — or in adjacent utility, T&D, or energy services markets
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Sales, Business, Engineering or related field, OR 5+ years related experience
  • Skills: Excellent presentation, verbal, written, and interpersonal communication — with the ability to translate technical engineering content for executive audiences
  • Drive: High degree of self-confidence, passion, initiative, and commitment to customer service

Essential Requirements
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to read utility capital plans, ISO interconnection data, and regulatory filings to source opportunities
  • Existing relationships with regulated utilities, public power entities, IPPs, or industrial generation owners highly valued
  • Familiarity with the power generation regulatory and compliance landscape (NERC, FERC, EPA air rules, state environmental permitting) is a plus
  • Comfort positioning across lump-sum, time-and-materials, and unit-rate commercial structures
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Willingness to travel up to 60% within assigned region
  • Clean driving record and commitment to safety
  • Previous CRM systems experience a plus

Physical Requirements
  • Able to sit/stand, type, and perform computer work for long periods of time.
  • Frequent use of hands/fingers for computer entry and answering calls.
  • Able to perform occasional bending, lifting, and reaching.
  • Must be able to lift 15 lbs if necessary.
  • Visual acuity sufficient for reading documents, computer screens, and technical materials.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally in-person, by phone, and via video conferencing.
  • Hearing ability adequate for meetings, presentations, and collaboration.
  • Ability to concentrate and maintain attention for extended periods while managing multiple priorities.
  • Ability to visit operating power plants, construction sites, and client offices — including exposure to elevated temperatures, noise above 85 dBA, and active industrial environments — wearing standard plant PPE (hard hat, FR clothing, safety glasses, hearing protection).
  • OSHA 10 or 30 site-safety training is a plus and may be required for client site access.

What We Offer

Base Salary: $150,000 – $175,000 depending on experience

Performance Bonus: Eligible immediately. Standard range $5,000 – $25,000 with expanded upside for exceptional performance against targets.

Strategic Impact. Drive company growth in the power generation vertical — a market at the center of the energy transition, thermal fleet evolution, and grid modernization — by identifying and closing new business opportunities aligned with organizational objectives.

Client Partnership. Build meaningful, multi-year relationships with utility, IPP, public power, and industrial generation clients, and provide solutions that address their unique capital, regulatory, and operational challenges.

Industry Visibility. Represent the company at premier power generation events — POWER-GEN International, EPRI, EUCI, EEI, APPA, NRECA, and regional ISO/RTO forums — while building your professional network in the vertical.

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.

This is a safety-sensitive position. Employment is contingent upon successfully passing and complying with all company drug and alcohol testing policies. Including pre-employment, random, post-accident, and reasonable suspicion testing.
