Job Description

The Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF) is the democratically elected National Government of the Red River Métis, also known as the Manitoba Métis. The Red River Métis are a distinct Indigenous Nation and People, and Canada's Negotiating Partners in Confederation and the Founders of the Province of Manitoba.

The MMF seeks to fill one full-time Outreach Coordinator position within our Central Registry Office Department located at 150 Henry Ave in Winnipeg, MB. This position is responsible for providing outreach services to Métis Citizens and Harvesters, including direct communication, engagement, and follow‑up. The role will also act as a liaison between the Central Registry Office and other MMF departments to support information sharing and collaborative initiatives as needed. Working closely with both the Senior Director and Director, this position will assist in developing and supporting outreach strategies that strengthen communication and enhance service to Métis Citizens.

Job Duties/Competencies:

  • Establish outreach procedures to meet objectives of the Central Registry Office;
  • Contact Métis Citizens via various methods to provide reminders, updates, information requests and ensuring contact information is up to date;
  • Work with both Senior Director, Director and Department of Communications to provide support for harvesting and citizenship inquiries via social media and the MMF website;
  • Prepare reports, submissions, and recommendations for review by the Senior Director and Director as required;
  • Appropriately represent the Citizenship and Harvesting Programs to other internal departments and affiliates within the MMF, as well as relevant external contacts.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Post-Secondary education in a related field or a suitable combination of education and experience;
  • Significant experience in the customer service field or working with the general public required;
  • Extensive experience working with social media and website platforms;
  • Proficiency with MS Office: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook;
  • Demonstrated ability to use judgement and initiative in dealing with colleagues and the general public;
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and time management skills;
  • Awareness of the MMF Citizenship and Harvesting Registration system/processes is an asset;
  • Experience working for a not-for-profit organization and Indigenous community is an asset;
  • Knowledge of Red River Métis culture, and MMF programs and services is a definite asset; and,
  • Ability to travel, valid Manitoba Driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle.
