Job Description
This role is focused on designing, developing, and optimizing embedded software that powers complex systems integrating sensors, hardware controls, and real-time data processing. You will work across the full software development lifecycle, from architecture and coding to testing, debugging, and long-term maintenance of embedded and firmware solutions. The environment is highly technical and collaborative, requiring close interaction with hardware engineers, customers, and vendors to improve system performance and reliability. You will contribute to products that depend on precision, stability, and secure data handling, often in Linux or real-time operating system environments. The role also emphasizes continuous improvement, cybersecurity compliance, and disciplined engineering practices. Accountabilities:- Design, develop, and implement embedded software and firmware solutions supporting sensor-based systems and diagnostic data collection.
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including architecture, coding, testing, debugging, and ongoing optimization of system performance.
- Collaborate with hardware engineers, internal teams, customers, and vendors to integrate, troubleshoot, and enhance system functionality.
- Develop and maintain software in Linux and/or real-time operating systems, ensuring stability, efficiency, and scalability.
- Conduct code reviews, improve existing implementations, and contribute to best practices in version control and software quality.
- Implement cybersecurity requirements, including secure coding practices and maintaining code integrity and traceability.
- Optimize input/output performance and support software quality assurance and validation efforts.
- 3+ years of software development experience in embedded systems using C/C++ and/or Python.
- Strong experience working with Linux and/or real-time operating systems in production environments.
- Background in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field.
- Hands-on experience integrating hardware and software systems, including knowledge of control systems, instrumentation, or embedded electronics.
- Familiarity with tools and technologies such as Git/GitHub, Modbus, Python, and Qt is strongly preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience applying structured engineering and debugging methodologies.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills in cross-functional technical environments.
- Annual salary range: $103,000 – $129,000 depending on experience
