Job Description

The Benefits Manager will be responsible for overseeing the employee benefits program of our company. This includes developing and implementing a comprehensive benefits package that meets the needs of both the employer and the employees. The Benefits Manager will monitor the various plans and policies to ensure compliance with legal requirements and company objectives. They will also stay informed of industry changes and new developments to help the business keep up with best practice standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design and administer employee benefit programs, such as health insurance, retirement plans, and wellness initiatives, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal regulations
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize benefits offerings, providing cost-effective and attractive packages to meet the diverse needs of our workforce
  • Collaborate with insurance brokers, carriers, and other vendors to negotiate favorable contracts, monitor plan performance, and address any service or claims issues
  • Manage the open enrollment process, including conducting employee communications, presentations, and training sessions
  • Provide comprehensive support and assistance to employees regarding benefit plans, claims, and eligibility inquiries
  • Monitor industry trends and best practices, evaluate benchmark data, and recommend improvements or modifications to existing benefit programs
  • Stay up-to-date with relevant legislation, regulatory changes, and compliance requirements, ensuring our benefit programs remain legally compliant
  • Lead the development and delivery of benefit-related communication materials, including employee handbooks, brochures, and online resources
  • Oversee the administration of leaves of absence, ensuring adherence to applicable policies and legal requirements
  • Assist with 401(k), benefit plan, and related compliance audits by gathering required documentation, preparing reports, coordinating with internal stakeholders and external auditors, and ensuring timely and accurate completion of audit requests
  • Collaborate with the HR team on compensation strategy, including evaluating market data, conducting salary surveys, and recommending adjustments as necessary
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field
  • 3-5 years relevant benefits management experience
  • Ability to read and interpret documents; write employee communication pieces and routine business correspondence; speak effectively before a group of peers and ability to communicate with a broad range of audiences (senior management level to front-line production employees)
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations
  • Ability to operate a PC and proficient in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Word and Excel
  • Ability to initiate and maintain good organization of records and information
  • Excellent problem-solving and time-management skills
  • Professional telephone etiquette
