About the role

The HR Advisor will provide a responsive and professional HR service across the Institution, supporting managers and employees on day-to-day people matters and HR administration.

Reporting to the HR Business Partner, the postholder supports the smooth running of HR processes across the employee lifecycle, ensuring a positive employee experience and compliance with company policies and employment legislation.

What you will do

Employee Relations

  • Provide first line HR advice and guidance to managers and employees on matters including absence, probation, performance, flexible working, disciplinary and grievance procedures.
  • Support the HR Business Partner with employee relations casework, preparing documentation and coordinating meetings where required.
  • Ensure HR cases are managed consistently in line with company policy and employment legislation.

HR Administration and Operations

  • Support the employee lifecycle including onboarding, contractual changes, probation reviews and leaver processes.
  • Prepare HR documentation including contract, letters, and policy related communications.
  • Maintain accurate and up to date employee records on Rippling (HR system).
  • Support payroll administration by providing monthly changes accurately and on time to the Finance Team.

Recruitment and Onboarding

  • Advise managers on recruitment processes and ensure that recruitment is carried out in line with best practice.
  • Carry out pre-employment checks including references and DBS checks where applicable.
  • Assist with the onboarding process to ensure new starters have a positive experience.

Policy and Compliance

  • Ensure HR processes and documentation remain compliant with employment legislation and internal policies.
  • Support the maintenance and review of HR policies and procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.

HR Support and Continuous Improvement

  • Assist with HR projects and people initiatives as required.
  • Support employee engagement and wellbeing activities.
  • Identify opportunities to improve HR processes and administrative efficiency.

The above is not an exhaustive list of duties and you will be expected to perform other related tasks to meet the overall business objectives of the Institution.

What you will need to be successful

Essential

  • Previous experience within an HR Coordinator, or HR Advisor role.
  • Good understanding of UK employment law and HR best practice.
  • Ability to manage confidential information professionally.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HR systems.
  • Strong administrative and organisational skills with good attention to detail.

Desirable

  • CIPD Level 3 or Level 5 qualified or equivalent.
