POSITION SUMMARY
The Coordinator is responsible for all aspects of the overall operation of the Health Promotion Services Department and responsibilities include the pool, gymnasium, as well all facility rentals including Camp Ywood. The coordinator reports to the Youth Services Deputy Director and meets regularly to discuss plans, methods, and appraisal of work performance.
Recruit, hire, and supervise program staff and ensure that decision making, and accountability is encouraged on the lowest appropriate levels.
Assist the Deputy Director in the development of department budgets and monitor the implementation of the budgets monthly reporting problems as necessary.
Work with the YWCA Development Office to write and secure program grants.
Represent the YWCA in the community and establish and maintain relationships and collaborations with public schools’ systems, systems of higher education and community-based agencies and partners.
Develop, implement, market and oversee YWCA wellness, fitness and aquatics programs in accordance with established goals and standards.
Supervise and monitor all activities relating to the wellness center and enforce wellness center policies and guidelines.
Administer any wellness and/or fitness-based grants received at the YWCA Northeastern Massachusetts.
Train, audit and provide timely and frequent feedback and progress reports to all wellness staff.
Oversee and coordinate the development and implementation of all curriculum materials ensuring compliance with non-sexist, non-violence and multi-cultural standards.
Ensure that staff receive the training and guidance they need to provide appropriate safety and instructional programs to participants.
Requirements:QUALIFICATIONS
A genuine love of children and a personal commitment to making a difference in the lives of high-risk families who reside in the inner city.
A four-year degree in Sports Recreation, Social Work, Education. (Relevant experience in the field may be substituted)
Dependable and efficient with strong planning and organizational skills.
Demonstrated experience in administration and supervision, with compelling leadership and management skills.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Professionalism to work with sensitive and confidential information.
Good crisis management skills and the ability to handle stressful situations.
The ability to adapt to change, handle multiple projects, and work independently with minimal supervision.
Current first aid/CPR certification; (or within 3 months of employment)
Lifeguard certification preferred or willing to train
A valid driver’s license and required active insurance policy.
Bilingual/Bicultural (Spanish) preferred.
Maintain training requirements.
A willingness to actively support the YWCA Mission and advocate for positive social change.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS
Work requires sitting, standing, stooping, bending, walking, and climbing. Position requires driving to and from appointments and making presentations.
